International Mother Language Day was declared by the United Nations as a worldwide annual day to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. Though International Mother Language Day originated in Bangladesh, far away from our beloved Pittsburgh, its story is unique and inspiring. To celebrate this day, Mt. Lebanon Public Library has arranged a poetry reading on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, featuring poets Tuhin Das, RaMa, Luana Reis, and Jorge Olivera Castillo, who will read in their respective mother languages: Bengali, Arabic, Portuguese, and Spanish.
